Harbor Cruise — New York, NY, USA

Contributor: David Bernard

New York City can easily have some of the most vibrant tourist attractions in the world. In a city of over 8 million residents, and even more tourists, it’s easy to understand why. But for many people, the overwhelming cost of activities can make it difficult for visitors to decide what may be worth seeing and what’s worth skipping. For most, the museums are a must, as well as one of NYC’s vibrant observation decks are also always highly recommended. But other than general sight seeing, what else is worth your hard earned money?

For myself, I find the NYC skyline to be irreplaceable anywhere else in the world. In addition to the observation decks, there’s only one place where you’ll truly see all of the skyline without shelling out an enormous amount of cash to ride in a helicopter tour. That spot is the harbor. There’s something about the rippling waves along the Manhattan shores that makes the experience truly special.

Luckily, several companies in the New York City area offer such affordable tourist cruises throughout virtually all times of the day. I’ve had a chance to try out a few, however I always seem to like one the most. Personally, my favorite is the NY Water Taxi “Statue By Night” Cruise, but I’ve spoken with many other people who like some of the other companies better. The bottom line however, is that it’s certainly a must-do activity for anyone visiting NYC. Whether you do it during the day, or in the evening, you won’t be disappointed.

Take a look at some of my photos below! They were from the “Statue By Night” cruise that I mentioned above. It certainly was a pleasant and enjoyable evening on the water!

Like I said, so many companies offer cruise tours, and you can go from a quick family tour all the way up to the “Spirit of New York” dinner cruise if you want to really invest in the experience. Either way, you’re sure to enjoy the time on the water!
